The work of the Committee has been in abeyance since the election in July of Mr. Claude Desama, who was chairman under the previous mandate. Mr. Desama resigned last week. It will meet on 27 September 1994 to appoint a rapporteur for each of the specific programmes which remain to be adopted. These are: - Environment and climate; - Biotechnology; - Biomedicine and health; - Transport; - Nuclear safety; - Thermonuclear fusion; - Diffusion and exploitation of results; - JRC (Euratom). These specific programmes are expected to be adopted in time for the Research Council meeting on 1 December 1994.
