The European Commission has raised no objections to Italian State aid for an R&D EUREKA project for the creation of electronic dictionaries. The companies to receive the aid are Consorzio Lexicon Ricerche and SERV.EDI SRL. The aim of the research is to create multilingual electronic dictionaries in the different European languages. The project would define and develop a linguistic model to carry out automatic translation operations in the languages of the research participants, namely Italian, French, Spanish and Portuguese. This could later be extended to include English and German. The maximum aid intensity would be 35%, with Consorzio Lexicon Ricerche receiving ECU 0.74 million (LIT 1,427.3 million) and SERV.EDI receiving ECU 1.77 million (LIT 3,430.35 million).
