The European Society of Engineers and Medicine
A new organization brings together engineers and the medical profession. The European Society of Engineers and Medicine was formed at the first European Congress on Biomedical Engineering, Nice, 17-20 February 1991. It aims to promote interchange, support clinical information networks, and to improve the training of those working in the field. The ESEM will also help promote Community programmes relating to engineering in medicine and produce a newsletter and journal giving updates on the latest medical engineering technology. A second European Congress, organized by the newly formed body, will be held in Stuttgart during 1993.
