Results of IMPACT II projects published on CD-ROM
Three projects from the European Community's IMPACT II programme (1991-1995) for the establishment of an internal information services market have recently produced CD-ROMs containing the results of their work. The three projects are: - OMEGA (object metadata for European geographical analysis). The aim of this project was to improve information about sources of data, software, hardware and services in the field of Geographic Information Services (GIS); - TiTAN (tourist information and travel assistance network). This project provides a wide range of tourist and traveller information for pan-European business and leisure road travel; - EURIPIDES (European information project involving demographic and economic statistics). This project has created a pan-European dataset of small-area statistics. The data covers over 40 categories in over 100,000 local administrative areas throughout the Community. The final reports of these three projects are available on the World Wide Web, on the Commission's I*M Europe server. IMPACT II is to be replaced by the INFO2000 programme, aimed at stimulating the development of a European multimedia content industry and at encouraging the use of multimedia content in the emerging Information Society (1996-1999).
