The European Commission, DG XIII, has launched a call to tender for a study on personal satellite communications using service links in the Ka-Band. The study should report on satellite systems operating in frequency bands above the 20 GHz band, and on how these may affect terrestrial (mobile and other radio) networks or satellite systems currently operating in lower frequency bands. The study should describe the current regulatory framework in which these systems will operate and examine the economic and market implications. The study should be completed within six months. Requests for tender documents, and completed tenders, should be sent to: European Commission DG XIII - Telecommunications, information market and exploitation of research Ms. Alison Birkett Directorate A 200 rue de la Loi (BU31 3/58) B-1049 Brussels Tel. +32-2-2968342/2968209; Fax +32-2-2968393
