The European coastal zone: Council Resolution on future Community policy
A Council Resolution of 25 February 1992 on the future Community policy on the European coastal zone emphasizes that a key to the sustainable use, development and safeguarding of this zone (including islands) lies in the full integration of economic, physical planning and environmental policies. The Council invites the Commission to propose for consideration a Community strategy for integrating coastal zone management which will provide a framework for conservation and sustainable use, and to incorporate this initiative into the fifth environmental action programme.
