The European Parliament on 9 March 1992, at the second reading under the cooperation procedure, approved with three amendments the Council's common position on a Commission proposal for a Council Directive (COM(91) 126 of 31.5.1991) extending until the end of 1995 the transitional period before the coming into force of the 1989 Directive on electromagnetic compatibility. The aim of this proposal is to allow time for distributors to dispose of existing stocks of electrical goods and to permit the necessary standards for electromagnetic compatibility to be finalized.
