Do we need a NEST programme?
In the proposal for the Seventh framework programme adopted on April 6th, 2005 (COM[2005] 119 final), the Commission proposed to support emerging research activities mainly within two specific programmes:
Cooperation: this is the core programme of the EU research funding with nine thematic priorities for collaborative research. Under each themes there will be sufficient flexibility to address emerging needs "through specific support for spontaneous research proposals aiming at identifying or further exploring, in a given field and/or at theintersection of several disciplines, new scientific and technological opportunities in particular linked with a potential for significant breakthroughs;
Ideas: this programme will be implemented by an ERC (European Research Council) to "support" investigatordriven research projects carried out across all fields by individual teams in competition at the European level.
The NEST-IDEA team is carrying out a survey to get to know the point of view of researchers on the future of NEST within the coming Seventh Framework Programme under preparation.,We would appreciate, if you could take some minutes to tell us your opinion about the future of NEST :
