A notice pursuant to article 19 (3) of Council Regulation No 17 (OJ No 13 of 21.2.1962) concerning notification No IV/33.882 (EEIG: Twinning Programme Engineering Group) sets out the Commission's position with regard to the above European Economic Interest Grouping. The Twinning Programme Engineering Group will be made up of representatives of Community electricity producers with experience in the design and operation of nuclear power plants. The object of the grouping, defined according to the terms of reference and tasks entrusted to it by the Commission, is to coordinate study and development projects and put forward technical solutions in order to improve safety in VVER nuclear power plants operating in Eastern Europe (and unique to that region). The Commission points out, inter alia, that the activities of the TPEG are liable to have an impact on the outlets available to other European firms regarding future work contracts which may be based on technical data provided by the TPEG. In order to limit such influence, the Commission has obtained a joint undertaking from the members of the EEIG, including amendments as set out in the notice, and proposes to take a favourable view of the notified agreement. Before doing so it invites interested third parties to submit observations.
