Advance Warning and Runaway Disposal, International Workshop

The EU-funded project "Advanced Warning and Runaway Disposal" (AWARD) will hold an international workshop in Lisbon on 21 & 22 April 2005 aimed at disseminating the results of the Project.

21 April 2005 - 22 April 2005
null

The AWARD European project has carried out research over the past four years to help improve chemical reactor safety. AWARD has developed an early warning detection device (EWDS) to prevent runaway reaction by detecting it early enough to initiate cooling, reaction stopper or other means. The project has also developed and validated methods for sizing pressure relief and disposal systems, and has produced simplified guidance for industry. This workshop will present the background, improved understanding, technical innovations and results of the AWARD project.
The workshop is particularly aimed at those working in the chemical process industry, from large multi-nationals to SMEs. It will be suitable for all who are involved in the operation of chemical reactors, including production management, designers, and safety specialists. It will also be of interest to those involved in safety regulation and research.
