2° round of trainings for journalists in EU labs

33 young journalists are ready to leave for a full week training in a EU laboratory. They will acquire unique scientific material that will result in high quality articles, radio interviews and/or audiovisual productions.

18 February 2010
North Macedonia
33 young journalists are about to leave next month for one full week training in a EU laboratory. An application campaign for new candidates was launched last October and November 2009 and many were the participants from all over European countries, from European Institutes of communication, science communication and journalism studies.

The programme foresees for each journalists the visit of one European lab for one week and the possibility of staying with researchers, watch their daily work, ask for interviews and enhance a discussion among scientists and media about scientific topics.
It will be an occasion for the young journalists participating to come back with a specific and unique scientific background that they will make use for the preparation of articles, reports, radio and audiovisual products.

The laboratories taking part in this second session and hosting journalists are:
ENEA in Rome, Italy
ICFO – The Institute of Photonic Sciences- Barcelona, Spain
VON KARMAN INSTITUTE-Rhode St. Genèse (Brussels), Belgium
INRA-Jouy-en-Josas Cedex (Paris), France
BILKENT University, Nanotechnology Research Centre, Ankara, Turkey
TUBITAK-Marmara Research Centre, Turkey
EPFL-Lausanne, Switzerland

The weeks trainings are organised within the framework of the European funded project RELATE - REsearch LAbs for TEaching journalists, aiming at bridging the gap between science and society. RELATE is a project funded by the FP7, under the SIS programme.
