The European Commission, DG III, is organizing an event entitled "Electronic directories for European administrations", which will take place in Brussels on 3-4 May 1995.

The event will take place within the framework of the Commission's IDA (Interchange of Data between Administration) programme. The aim of the IDA programme is to contribute to the implementation of trans-European telematic networks for the exchange of data between administrations.

The event will provide the opportunity for representatives from administrations to exchange their experiences in this area and to identify requirements and actions that will accelerate the creation of trans-European electronic directory services for public administrations.

The programme will include:

- Tutorials on the capabilities of directories;
- Conference presenting business experience and practical issues;
- Parallel exhibition on demonstrating the technology in action;
- Recommendations to set up and achieve a global European Directory for European Administrations.
