The CORDIS Member State service for Finland is now live, providing information on Finnish national research programmes, Finland's participation in EU research, and innovation in Finland. Many of the features of the CORDIS Council Presidency service for Finland have been retained and updated, while other new services have been added. The site features a regularly updated news section on Finnish R&D, as well as a contacts section providing easy access to individual research projects, maintained by Tekes, the national technology agency of Finland. For researchers interested in Research Commissioner Philippe Busquin's idea of a European research area, the site will prove a useful tool for providing up-to-date information on the research environment in Finland, together with contact details to enable future interaction. A new spotlights section provides an in-depth look into Finnish research projects, and will be updated monthly. The first in the series features the TEAC-Health project financed by the telematics programme of the Fourth Framework Programme. In the TEAC-Health project, researchers from five European nations work in collaboration to evolve the ground rules for medical telematics services in Europe. Information is also provided on the Academy of Finland, a funding organisation for financing basic research in Finland and on Tekes, the main organisation for technology financing in Finland. Although only Finnish groups can be funded, foreign groups are invited to collaborate on Finnish projects. Contact details for programme managers, as well as direct links to the Academy and Tekes are available. Web browsers can search for information on individual EU-funded projects with Finnish participation. Project descriptions and contact information are provided for projects in the Fifth Framework Programme and other RTD and demonstration programmes.
