Establishing impact of RSV infection, resultant disease and public health approach to reducing the consequences

To produce a robust dataset that will increase the understanding of RSV infection and its clinical, economic and social impact.

The Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) causes severe respiratory illness in infants and children and has a significant burden in the elderly. It causes about 3.4 million hospitalisations globally each season.

There is a poor understanding of the burden of disease and costs associated. In addition, there is lack of clear predictability or classification of disease severity and long-term consequences

Understanding the burden of disease and costs associated, the predictability or classification of disease severity and long-term consequences; finally, understanding the public health need associated to RSV. Addressing these challenges would result in better care for patients, reduced costs for healthcare systems, and aid in the development of treatments and vaccines.
