National Center of Competence in Research in Materials with Novel Electronic Properties

The programme provides an instrument that should ensure that the limited resources of a small country are used as efficiently as possible. A key concept is the bottom-up approach, in which researchers not only propose the themes but also create the structures themselves to carry out their research and exploit the results.
The main goal of the NCCR Programme is the long-term reinforcement of Switzerland’s international competitiveness in strategically significant research areas by promotion of thematic research activities of the highest quality.
The majority of the materials which will be studied in the NCCR-MaNEP have superior, often unique, electronic properties compared to those used in many cases at present.
