Objective
European Union countries produced some 10,302,000 tonnes of hazardous waste in 1990. The toxic components of these wastes are able to leach into the ground water which increases the disposal problem for the future. The targeted activity of this Project is to involve end-users in research to develop and to demonstrate technology directed towards modernisation of existing and newly build waste incinerator plants to convert them into "zero emission" factories. Also for the rehabilitation of civil and industrial infrastructures, specifically waste disposal sites. The aim of this Project is to treat with plasma a composite waste consisting of hazardous waste ash and of toxic chemicals, to produce near-to-net shape building tiles.
