Superconducting innovative tapes suitable for low loss power equipments. technology comparison (SUITABLE)

Objective

The implementation of high-Tc superconductors (HTS) in AC electric-energy-trans- port and conversion devices, e.g. transformers and motors, affects energy savings and related ecological aspects. The present development focused on the search for the most economic HTS tape conductors requires complementary expertise of the leading European partners. The basic objective is the development of long-length tapes for AC applications in power engineering and to demonstrate their full potential within a technology comparison between YBCO-coated and BSCCO tapes by fabricating two well selected demonstrators: single-phase cable and windings for transformers. The transnational project will strengthen the European cohesion and the European competitiveness in this rapidly developing field, where both Japan and USA established programs with considerable national support. The participation of the partners from industry will ensure a quick implementation of the technology.

Fields of science (EuroSciVoc)

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Call for proposal

Procedure for inviting applicants to submit project proposals, with the aim of receiving EU funding.
