Integrated Infrastructure Initiative for Neutron Scattering and Muon Spectroscopy

Objective

The Integrated Infrastructure Initiative for Neutron Scattering and Muon Spectroscopy (NMI3) comprehensively integrates all aspects of neutron scattering and muon spectroscopy in Europe. It will be a cornerstone of the European Research Area, making significant contributions to the science research base that underpins European technological development.

The NMI3 brings together 23 partners from 14 countries, including 11 research infrastructures, together with other interested organisations. The NMI3 will advance the integration of the field, and the effective use and development of these research infrastructures, by providing:
12 different Access Activities offering approximately 5000 beam days of access to 150 instruments, for 1700 users who will carry out 900 projects;
8 Joint Research Activities on enhanced instrumentation and techniques, involving 50 research groups;
4 Networking Activities to widely disseminate the results, expand the user community and plan for the future.

Particular emphasis is given to:
Integrating user organisations and their representatives within the decision making management;
Activities to disseminate the results of the NMI3 widely and rapidly through the partners and beyond;
Activities to encourage future or greater participation of smaller countries, or countries with small or no facilities;
Activities to develop the relationship to, and integration with, complementary experimental techniques.

Fields of science (EuroSciVoc)

CORDIS classifies projects with EuroSciVoc, a multilingual taxonomy of fields of science, through a semi-automatic process based on NLP techniques. See: The European Science Vocabulary.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Call for proposal

Procedure for inviting applicants to submit project proposals, with the aim of receiving EU funding.

Funding Scheme

Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.
