THE ASSESS THE POTENTIAL AND WORK PUT THE BEST OPERATING CONDITIONS OF GASGEOCHEMICAL METHODS IN MINERAL PROSPECTING.

Objetivo

TO ASSESS THE POTENTIAL AND WORK OUT THE BEST OPERATING CONDITIONS OF GASGEOCHEMICAL METHODS IN MINERAL PROSPECTING.

1) A PERIOD OF TESTING THE GENERAL CONCLUSIONS FROM EARLIER WORK, E.G. THAT RN IS AN EFFECTIVE INDICATOR OF FAULTS AND THAT CO2/O2 RATIONS AND SULPHIDE ACTIVITY CAN BE USED DETECT BURIED OREBODIES.

2) STUDIES OF THE COPPER PORPHYRY DEPOSITS AT COED-BRENIN (NORTH WALES) IN ADDITION TO THE W/SN/AS, W/SN, PB/ZN AND SB/AS OREBODIES WHERE PRELININARY STUDIES HAVE ALREADY BEEN CARRIED OUT.

3) LONG-TERM MONITORING OF SOIL GASES AT HEMERDON (W/SN/AS) AND KENSLOW FARM (PB/ZN) HAS BEEN CARRIED OUT DURING SUMMER MONTHS. THIS WILL INCLUDE SIMILAR STUDIES UNDER WINTER CONDITIONS.

4) COLLABORATIVE INVESTIGATIONS WITH BRG AND BRGM OVER TYPE ORE DEPOSITS IN ORDER TO COMPARE DIRECTTLY THE DIFFERENT GAS SAMPLING AND ANALYTICAL TECHNIQUES. IT IS ENVISAGED THAT STANDARD REFERENCE SITES WILL BE ESTABLISHED TO PROVIDE AREAS FOR TESTING NEW TECHNIQUES AND METHODS.

5) EXTENSION OF THE INVESTIGATIONS TO COVER A WIDER RANGE OF SOIL GASES, INCLUDING AR, HE, ALOGEN S AND HYDROCARBON COMPOUNDS.

6) INVESTIGATION OF BEHAVIOUR OF SOIL GASES IN RELATION TO GAS GENERATORS SUCH AS MARSHED, BEDDED BLACK SHALES, UNMINERALISED FAULTS, TO DETERMINE WHETHER BEHAVIOURAL DIFFERENCES ARE RECOGNISABLE BETWEEN MINERALISED AND NON-MINERALISED STRUCTURES.

7) DEVELOPMENT OF METHODS FOR DETERMINING CHEMICAL, PHYSICAL AND PEDOLOGICAL VARIABLE AND FOR USE IN THE FIELD OR FIELD-LABORATORY.
