Objectif
(A) SCIENTIFIC:
- COMPREHENSION OF THE DISSOLUTION MECHANISMS AMD KINETICS OF LITHIATED NICKEL OXIDE IN CONTACT WITH CO2,O2 AND CO;
- ANALYSIS OF THE CRYSTALLOGRAPHIC STRUCTURE OF THE CATHODE MATERIAL PREPARED BY DIFFERENT TECHNIQUES;
- DEVELOPMENT OF THE PVD TECHNOLOGY FOR THE DEPOSITION OF LITIATED NICKEL OXIDE.
(B) TECHNICAL:
- A CATHODE MATERIAL THAT IMPROVES THE PERFORMANCE OF THOSE CURRENTLY USED.
(C) ECONOMIC BENEFITS ARE DIFFICULT TO ASSESS SINCE THEY ARE TIED UP WITH THE MARKET POTENTIAL OF MOLTEN CARBONATE FUEL CELLS.
THE AIM OF THIS RESEARCH IS TO IMPROVE THE PERFORMANCE OF THE CURRENT CATHODES IN MOLTEN CARBONATE FUEL CELLS. RESEARCH IS THEREFORE GEARED TO THE FOLLOWING OBJECTIVES:
(1) STUDIES BY ELECTRONIC SPECTROSCOPY (PS - AUGER) OF THE DISSOLUTION MECHANISMS OF LI X NI L-X O;
(2) STUDIES OF THE CRYSTALLOGRAPHIC ELECTRONIC STRUCTURE IN ORDER TO OBTAIN THE CORRECT STOICHIOMETRY AND MINIMIZE DISSOLUTION;
(3) PRODUCTION OF PVD LAYERS OF LIXNIL-XO IN ORDER TO IMPROVE THE RESISTANCE TO DISSOLVING.
