Objetivo Reduction of NOx emission from a GE gas turbine. The proposed equipment achieves NOx abatment without the use of a diluent to reduce flame temperature. It consequently requires less energy the system uses a newly designed 2 zone burning fuel stage combustor which operates at fuel lean mode, achieved by premixing air and fuel prior to combustion. The NOx abatment is effective over the full load range of the turbine. The combustors are operated by a PLC based control system. The system had been installed, commissioned and the first inspection had been executed after 500 hrs of operation by the end of 1992. Measurements revealed, that the reduction in NOx emission level had been achieved without affecting efficiency. A few operational problems (for instance sudden NOx peaks during normal operation) were being investigated. The GE Dry Low Nox combustion system achieves NOx abatement without the use of a diluent to reduce the flame temperature, like steam or water injection. The system uses a newly designed two zone burning, fuel staged combustor. The flame is forced to burn at fuel lean mode, which is achieved by premixing air and fuel prior to combustion. The NOx abatement is effective over the full load range of the gas turbine. This Dry Low NOx system is retrofittable to all existing Ge France 6 gas turbines.
