100 KW AUTONOMOUS WIND/DIESEL SYSTEM FOR LANNION

Objectif

The production of electrical energy by means of a 100 KW WT in order :
- to feet an isolated small community
- to operate in parallel with a diesel generator and thus to satisfy the demand.

A 100 KW RATIER FIGEAC, horizontal axis wind turbine will be installed at CNEEL-Lannion and will operate in parallel with a diesel generator of 75-100 KW nominal power. The system is autonomous and aims to meet the demand of small isolated communities.
Special attention is given to the frequency and voltage regulation. Dumps loads are used for systems regulation.
The wind turbine has an asychronous generator and reaches its maximum power of 100 KW at 12 m/s. The estimated annual yield is 243 MWh. The cost of energy generated is estimated to 0,72 FF/KWh while the diesel alternative gives 1,16 - 1,60 FF/KWh. Thus the estimated payback time is about 8 years. The project is replicable for small and isolated communities.
