Deliverables
White paper on European polar data accessibility, including proposals for capacity building methodology to interconnect the existing and upcoming polar research data systems and infrastructures and thus ensure data are made more widely available and in a timely manner
Meeting Minutes
Recommendations for data management for polar research data systems and infrastructures in Europe based on an analysis of the technical solutions presently in place that facilitate access to data and to ensure their protection, accuracy and long-term use and on an analysis of how a better discoverability and accessibility of the data can contribute to a better interoperability of the data provision mechanisms.
Report describing the existing polar research data systems and infrastructures, including their architectures, standards/good practice baselines, policies and scopes
Survey of polar industry stakeholders to identify what commercial infrastructure could be made available to the European Polar Research Programme (e.g. tourist ships in Polar Regions ferrying scientists to/from research stations, commercial vessels deploying observational floats)
A report that gives an overview of existing and potential stakeholders by sector (e.g. government policy, business, NGO’s, science and the public, particularly Arctic residents and indigenous people) that are likely to be end-users or influencers of polar research.
A scheme for the optimisation of monitoring infrastructure use will be developed in this report together with WP3 and recommendations for an implementation will be given in this report.
Progress report on the science - stakeholder Interaction meetings including an assessment of the outcomes and recommendations for improvement
Meeting Minutes
Report on theexisting use of space assets by European polar operators, including recommendations for improved coordination
Report on guidelines and mechanism to evaluate the impact of the communication and outreach strategy applied for interacting with stakeholders including recommendations for improvement
Gap analysis highlighting the technical and operational requirements of the European Polar Research Programme for satellite applications and identifying opportunities for improved linkages to ESA and other space agencies
Report decribing the EU-PolarNet dissemination activities carried out in the second period.
Report describing the communication and engagement plan that will be used by all project participants (individually or collectively) to facilitate and deliver public and stakeholder interaction activities.
Meeting Minutes
Rules on how to communicate with the public and stakeholders based on guidelines developed and agreed in the consortium
Progress report on the science - stakeholder Interaction meetings including an assessment of the outcomes and recommendations for improvement
Report on the needs, gaps and opportunities of cooperation with Polar stakeholders including an analysis of strength and weaknesses of the applied methods.
Approximately six white papers that address the top research questions identified from the science-stakeholder dialogue. These topics would not represent all the research identified in an European Polar Research Programme but rather a set of core questions to tackle at the start of the programme. These Papers are intended to provide a state of the art for each issue, identify the challenges in addressing the issue, including consideration of infrastructure needs, and outline possible approaches that could be addressed through a European Polar Research Programme.
White paper on European polar infrastructure access and interoperability, including an infrastructure implementation plan for the European Polar Research Programme
Report decribing the EU-PolarNet dissemination activities carried out in the third period.
Meeting Minutes
Report decribing the EU-PolarNet dissemination activities carried out in the first period.
Meeting Minutes
Meeting Minutes
Inventory report of existing monitoring activities, including the parameters monitored, frequency, sampling location, and associated data reporting and data handling arrangements.
Meeting Minutes
Report that includes a strategic analysis of the existing monitoring and modelling programmes, and the infrastructures used to deliver them based on D2.3. It will determine where additional support is needed to ensure the adequate collection of data from the polar regions.
Integrated European Polar Research Programme that describes the most important research questions and their societal relevance that need to be solved in the near future. The Research Programme will be co-designed with all relevant stakeholders and will give recommendations for research funders.
Minutes of the first Town Hall meeting
The EU-PolarNet Task 1.3. Strengthen international cooperation and implement the Transatlantic Research Alliance has the objective to strengthen international cooperation in Polar Research. This new deliverable will contribute to this objective in showing how a large-scale and expensive international initiative, like the MOSAiC expedition, can be implemented and funded by an international consortium. The MOSAiC expedition serves as a best-practise example for other projects on how such international projects have to be set up and which support is needed to convert a national, bottom-up idea to an international large-scale project. In addition, this deliverable will also contribute to EU-PolarNet WP3 objectives by giving a best practise example on how an infrastructure, like PRV Polarstern, can be shared and jointly operated by an international consortium.
Report that identifys the most important third-country partners for coopeartion and recommends an International Cooperation Strategy for European Polar Research
European Polar Infrastructure Catalogue incl. all types of polar infrastructures, facilities and large instruments (such as AUV´s and ROV´s) based on the model of the INTERACT Arctic station catalogue and with the agreement and participation of the INTERACT community. It will provide all necessary information on the capacities of European Arctic and Antarctic infrastructures to support science and their availability to international scientists.
Report on Europe-relevant polar research questions as a basis for the stakeholder dialogue. The report collates the range of research questions emerging from the IASC, SCAR and national review processes and from discussion meetings within larger conference events organised be the project.
White paper describing the status of stakeholder engagement in polar research
Creation of a “EU-PolarNet toolkit” (including standard text about key messages; visual assets such as introductory leaflet; banner stands; photos and video clips; PowerPoint shows; bookmarks etc.) for participants to customise and use in their own outreach and engagement activities at science conferences, business events, science festivals, etc..
Policy briefing meetings in Brussels for public and private decision makers to inform and discuss about the outcomes of the science - stakeholder dialogue.
Public EU-PolarNet website in place
Policy briefing meetings in Brussels for public and private decision makers to inform and discuss about the outcomes of the science - stakeholder dialogue.
