KOMP Pro - The one-button screen connecting care providers and family with non-digital seniors through pictures, messages, video, apps and services.

Project description

Simple but smart computers help care for seniors

The proportion of old and very old people in the general population is rising steadily, increasing demand for home care. Ensuring high-quality home-based health care and social services is no easy feat. New technological advances can help with smartphones and other electronic devices, but not all seniors are tech savvy. The EU-funded KOMP Pro project will support the development of a one-button computer designed for easy communication with seniors. The KOMP Pro device will enable easy video calls, messages, and special helpful apps through an open application programming interface (API). Further development will be possible with an alignment with the ‘Digital Industrial Platform’.

Objective

That the European population is ‘turning grey’ is causing both increasing costs connected to senior care, and the realization that we need more carers than we have. Care providers are currently trying to effectivize care by means of telephone and smartphone-/tablet-care-apps, but telephone contact is insufficient and many seniors do not know how to use modern technology. To meet this need, No Isolation wish to develop KOMP Pro, a one-button computer developed for tech-averse seniors. Our solution will allow care providers to video-call and message patients, but also enable the integration of useful and life-enhancing apps and services through an open API. KOMP Pro simplifies care.

The future of care will be radically different. KOMP Pro aligns with the EU’s development of a disruptive Digital Industrial Platform, which will ensure the integration of different key technologies such as robotics, sensors, big data and mobile communication, via open APIs and IoT-based smart living environments/wearables.
