DEVELOPMENT AND INSTALLATION OF THE TACKE TW1500 MEGAWATT WIND TURBINES FOR DUNKERQUE, FRANCE

Objective

Demonstration and monitoring of the TACKE megawatt-wind turbine in Dunkerque, France, site Pont-Loby. Dissemination in order to change the present wind turbine market situation in France.
Turbine in Dunkerque to be erected in November 1996, no results of this turbine yet; however one prototype named TW1,5 operating in Emden, Germany, shows very smooth power output, no operating problems.
1. Innovative Technology :
1500 kW wind turbine with variable speed operation, full-span single-blade pitch control and low noise features as very low rotational speed, rotor made out of carbon fibres.
2. Context of the Project :
Installation in France, where a market for megawatt turbines could be created for french utility Electricite de France (EDF), fair wind characteristics, blades made in France.
3. Economic Aspects :
Cost efficient wind turbine for its size, cost efficient carbon rotor.
4. Monitoring :
Extensive monitoring of the total machine, dynamic stall characteristics of the machine.
