Precision tests of the standard model in its perturbative and non-perturbative sectors

Objetivo

The aim of this project is to study some aspects of the the perturbative and non-perturbative approach to gauge theories with particular emphasis given to precision tests of the standard model of the strong electroweak interactions.

The non-perturbative approach includes the simulation of lattice gauge theories, hadron spectroscopy and the general phenomenology of the standard model to determine weak mixing angles from hadronic decays. The methods rely on both analytic and numerical techniques.

Chiral gauge theories and their possible simulations will be investigated in order to access non-perturbative estimates of the standard model dynamics. Applications of perturbative and non-perturbative techniques on the light-cone will be pursued. The possible effects of a novel interpretation of the vacuum QCD states and of their dynamics will be investigated. The evolution equations at HERA in the small-x region will be studied at next to leading level.

The effective field theory for the multi-Regge processes will be applied to the unitarization of the leading logarithmic approximation at small-x. The methods of two-dimensional conformal field theories will be developed in the application to high-energy scattering amplitudes at the multi-colour QCD. Resummations of perturbative effects, including next to leading contributions, will be continued. Deep inelastic structure functions will be paramentrized in the region of small -x for both small (non-perturbative) and large (perturbative) values of Q2. The large Q2 behaviour will be calculated by means of the perturbative evolution equations. The Bhabha scattering to order Q2 will be calculated with the aim of reaching a precision of a per mille.
