Objective
Experience gained from existing partnerships has clearly shown what communication difficulties exist amongst all the players involved despite the joint selection of the working languages English and French. Even the perfect mastering of these working languages cannot overcome a crucial communication problem where educational and vocational training content or specialist vocabulary in the social and labour market policy sector is concerned. The content of the respective language learned at school/university relates to social and cultural realities in the country of origin of the working language concerned. The transfer of terms and concepts to labour market and vocational education situations in Greece, Portugal, Italy, France and Germany inevitably entails a chain of associations which tends more to prevent or distort understanding than make it easier. For this reason, the information drawn up under this project will relate to the individual member states. Intensive use of the most modern EDP technologies and processing work on the Internet is essential in this context.
The result of this process will be the specifying of respective terminologies in the working languages, i.e. French and English, in the form of a glossary, as well as the production of multimedia self-learning software. In addition, draft certification in the area of "Linguistic competence for the organisation and implementation of transnational projects" is to be prepared, tested and distributed together with the partner countries involved in the project.
Impact
The project promotes the acquisition of specific linguistic knowledge, thus putting the players involved in a position to co-operate with each other at European level. The project will also advance the use of multimedia self-learning products.
