Objective
Actual processes of batteries recycling concern principally aqueous electrolyte and are adapted to only one type of cathodic materials. Other batteries are put at disposal inducing soil, water and air pollution. The aim of the project is to develop a special process dedicated to the recycling of all types of spent Lithium-batteries materials and the economic valorisation of all the materials that will be obtained through the recycling process. The proposed project is organised in 3 main phases:
-Definition of specifications;
-Research and development of the recycling process;
-Testing the ability of the process to insure the recycling rate objectives.
To sustain this work, three workpackage will be dedicated to analysis, economics and environment, management and exploitation.
We are expected to obtain:
- a recycling process for batteries with technological, economic and environmental benefits for Europe;
- a new source of Lithium derivatives;
-materials to be incorporated back in the production of new Lithium batteries.
An industrial recycling process and the valorisation of a raw material containing organic and mineral compounds are the main issues of the project.
