Objective
The objective of the LUBRICOAT project is to develop innovative, technologically performant tribological material combinations on the basis of vegetable oil based. lubricants combined with low friction surface coatings. Vegetable oil based lubricants are prone to thermal degradation, hence friction heating limit the lifetime of such environmentally adapted lubricants (EAL). The use of advanced low friction coatings offers an innovative solution to this problem. The result of the LUBRICOAT project will be the identification of application areas where the use of tribological systems making use of environmentally adapted lubricants in combination with solid lubrication is feasible and the optimization of these systems.
The main results at the end of the project are:
- Definition of industrial needs for processes and plants
- Definition of welding requirements and system specifications for different industrial environments
- Realisation of a data base of remote welding parameters- Definition of design rules for positioning, clamping and handling the workpiece
- Optimisation of high efficient laser sources
- Optimisation of an existing high power scanning device for CO2 laser
- Realisation of a prototype of a remote laser welding CO2 gantry station
- Realisation of a prototype of miniaturised high power scanning device for Nd:YAG laser
- Realisation of a prototype of a remote laser welding Nd:YAG robot station- Realisation of a prototype of process monitoring device
- Realisation of a prototype of autofocus device
- Realisation of a prototype of seam tracking device
- Realisation of a prototype of off-line programming system
- Realisation of a simulation module able to predict the welding quality for CO2 and Nd:YAG RWS
- Realisation of a complete off-line programming system supporting gantry and robot station
- Definition of testing procedures and rules for remote welding joints
- Definition of quality and acceptance criteria for remote welding joints
- Installation and testing of a remote laser welding CO2 gantry station at the end user Volvo
