Objetivo DAMASCOS focuses on the dynamic managing of a customised supply chain by fostering the convergence of information processing, communications and the need for co-ordination, interoperability and coherence at European and global level. It addresses mainly SMEs in order to support them in the management and inter-operation of dynamic supply and value networks. DAMASCOS provides a lean supply network management system considering consumer demands and market mechanisms. The advertisement factor plays a special role in the forecasting systems, since it provides a feedback loop. DAMASCOS uses the model-based approach supporting the supply network extended enterprise integration. Its architecture employs new emerging standards and advanced technologies in forecasting, as well as in distributed and co-operative information management driven by work flow management technologies. Objectives:It is the DAMASCOS objective to design and develop an open platform providing adequate IT modules and mechanisms to mechanisms to manage Customised Supply Networks while integrating consumer and its demands. The key objectives are: workflow model driven approach; development of a new organisational scheme enabling a flexible/efficient co-operation inside the supply network; establishing a new kind of consumer-supplier relationship; lean, flexible and innovative functional modules for production order management, distribution/stock management and demand calculation; integrated forecasting functionalities, not as separate module but as a basic functionality; customisation of the supply network to a order related supply chain; backbone based on state of the art technologies (internet, intranet, CORBA, DCOM) considering standards and also common useable systems (TCP/IP, tec.); strong market/customer orientation of the system architecture.Work description:Since in today used ERP systems the supply chain from production to consumer is still not integrated, a huge optimisation potential exists when considering the entire supply chain starting from consumer demand up to production. Particularly in industries, where "Just in Time" scenarios are not applicable; supply chain management only can be really successful, if actual and future consumer demands - as initial input transaction - are considered. The integration of distribution and consumer demands in production planning and controlling allow a demand driven production especially considering the alternating co-operation of independent companies in one supply chain. The principal producer is the central point of a supply network, which has to be customised for each product as well as for each production order to meet customer needs as best as possible. Embedding such processes, triggered by forecasting as support for demand calculation, into a workflow management tool, would process operations and activities on all sites more smoothly. This would lead to the requested improvement in supply network management, thus promoting and encouraging a more efficient co-operation between all partners. The project provides a new conception and IT modules with regard to integration of sales, distribution, demand management and forecasting and production order management in order to manage dispersed manufacturing systems (by enabling a "Just in Time" conception in middle - and long-term supply networks) and to customise the supply network for every customer order. The workflow management usage - enabling the co-ordinated access to software functions - offers a tremendous potential for all members of the dynamic supply network. The ultimate aim would be to re-engineer the supply network management, leading to the implementation of lean principal producer organisation driven by future consumer demands and enabled by an advanced system of information flow and decision support mechanisms.
