Objectif MEDIS medical imaging systems is a growing Dutch company in Leiden active in the research, development and worldwide distribution of top quality software for the quantitative analysis of medical images. MEDIS seeks highly qualified Marie Curie Fellows for R&D in the field of Quantitative cardiovascular magnetic resonance imaging applications. This research will be carried out at the Division of Image Processing (LKEB) of the Department of Radiology at the Leiden University Medical Centre (LUMC). The goal of the research performed at LKEB is to investigate image analysis techniques, which facilitate the interpretation of biomedical images in general. An important research field is the development and validation of segmentation algorithms, which are robust enough to perform objective quantitative measurements in medical image as they are acquired in daily practice. At the LKEB, fundamental image processing research is performed in a highly clinical setting, as we have found it critically important to ascertain cardiological and radiological input in the technical imaging research. The development of application is carried out on SUN workstation (UNIX) and Pentium-based systems (Windows-NT).Tasks:1) development and implementation of advanced algorithms to carry out automated segmentation and visualization tasks in cardiovascular MR-image sequence;2) development of analysis tools for left-ventricular wall motion from MR tagging images and velocity encoded MR images;3) development of consistent and reproducible analysis tools for stress-acquisitions and fellow-up studies;4) performing evaluation studies using the developed measurement techniques and carry out statistical analyses on the measurement results;Requirements:Creative scientist with a degree (M.Sc. or Ph.D.) in biomedical sciences, informatics, engineering or physics with:1) affinity with biomedical research and medical image processing;2) experience with object-oriented programming in C++;3)fluent in English (written and oral);4) independent but great team worker;5)clear interest in the application and utilization of biomedical technological research. We offer:- an intellectual challenge within a young and successful research team;-an excellent software and hardware infrastructure based on the latest computer technology.
