The european virtual institute for reference materials

Objective

An important tool in the quality control of analyses is the use of (Certified) Reference Materials, (C)RMs, to test accuracy, validate methods and assure traceability and inter-comparability between laboratories. The central mission of the "European Virtual Institute on Reference Materials" (VI-RM) is a knowledge Network and a facility to encourage the interaction between all stakeholder in the field of Reference Materials. The VI-RM shall become the meeting place for producers, distributors, users (including industry and SMEs), service providers, and research organizations in EU&NAS countries. The VI-RM will act both as glue (between Network Members) and grease to smooth dissemination, exchange of ideas and concepts. The project has the main objective to nurture the concept of a Virtual Institute and to develop into a legally and financially independent organization.
