Objetivo These three proposals (inclusive P1861 and P1888) have been coordinated in order to constitute a uniform programme. The aim of this research project is to boost the economic return on steel and steel composite structures by means of realistic assessments of component and structural behaviour. These should form part of these investigations by using existing knowledge. Preparing new data and identifying the hitherto unused reserves contained in the behaviour of structures in fire, and thus above all making the ultimate transition from ISO pyrotechnic stressing to natural conflagrations. Greater use will be made in the investigations of numerical methods as this would make the results more generally valid. These results will be summarized in recommendations intended for practical application.
