A semantic-based knowledge flow system for the European home textiles industry

Project description

Semantic-based knowledge systems

The overall aim of AsIsKnown is to develop a showcase for an integrated knowledge and content flow system between customer, trade facilities and producers through semantically-enabled Knowledge Technologies. This showcase will be exemplified by the home textiles industry. Therefore AsIsKnown will create a common knowledge base for the European home textiles industry that allows knowledge to be shared and (re)used across multimedia applications by developing semantic-based collaboration services: the Smart Profiler and the Trend Analyser. These semantic-based collaboration services will enable trend-related industries like the home textiles industry to bring jointly harmonised trend lines on the market by providing a base for a joint decision support and collaborative use of trusted knowledge between different organisations. The main scientific and technological objectives of the semantic-based knowledge flow system for the European home textiles industry are to: ** develop a prototype of the Smart Profiler which integrates data(bases) across organisations of the home textiles industry to create semantically unified style directions resp. online-catalogues of heterogeneous suppliers and vendors within a collaborative working environment; ** develop a prototype of the Trend Analyser which builds upon existing standards as well as on prototype knowledge content models developed for semantic annotation of multimedia content and for trading knowledge units; ** develop a web-based Virtual Interior Design tool as front-end application for the semantic "back-office" services Smart Profiler and Trend Analyser; ** define a common-sense ontology and a multimedia ontology to build up a shared knowledge base for the European home textiles industry as key enablers for the semantic web services Smart Profiler and Trend Analyser; and ** build a decision support-system for inferencing and reasoning across organisations of the European home textiles industry.

Fields of science (EuroSciVoc)

CORDIS classifies projects with EuroSciVoc, a multilingual taxonomy of fields of science, through a semi-automatic process based on NLP techniques. See: https://op.europa.eu/en/web/eu-vocabularies/euroscivoc.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Call for proposal

Procedure for inviting applicants to submit project proposals, with the aim of receiving EU funding.

Funding Scheme

Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.
