Coordinating Regional Primary Sector Policies for Boosting Innovation

Objetivo

European Regions represent an important actor for the creation of the European Research Area and can directly operate to stimulate research actions and innovation demand. This process is influenced not only by direct RTD policies, but also by regulations and decisions taken in other contexts, which could contribute to the creation of a more innovation-friendly environment. Starting form these considerations, the CoRIn Co-ordination Action specifically focus on the Primary Sector and on how policy interventions on this area can stimulate research investments. The final objective of the project is to improve Regional polices and governance processes, for increasing effectiveness of interventions and impact on RTD investments, through benchmarking, knowledge sharing and improved co-ordination among Regions. For achieving this result, the following activities will be implemented: state-of-the-art analysis on relevant experiences and current procedures for Primary Sector regulation and RTD promotion; new methodologies definition for improving trans-regional cooperation and the impact on RTD promotion of Regional interventions on Primary Sector; design and set-up of specific IST tools to support effective knowledge sharing and distant collaboration among Regions (Co RIn trans-regional co-operation platform); extensive Pilot Actions to apply, test, refine, and validate the proposed methodologies; specific exploitation and dissemination actions for promoting a wider diffusion and adoption of developed solutions and know ledge.9 partners from 8 different Regions and 5 different countries will take part in CoRIn action. The expected benefit of the project can be summarised in: (1) a better coordination among key actors for policy making and governance processes in Primary Sector, (2) mutual learning among partners, thus diffusion of good practices and overall skills improvement in the relevant field, and (3) increased attention toward RTD promotion issues.
