Objetivo This project proposes an integrative statistical approach to study the Gulf of Cádiz system, from hydrographical processes to central ecological issues such the type of trophic regulation or the fish recruitment-stock biomass relationships. An innovative aspect is the objective of making predictions about the future based upon the combination of the empirically-deduced ecological processes and the expected evolution of the environment. By increasing our knowledge about this particular system, the present proposal aims to better inform policy makers and society in general - the overall strategic objective being to contribute to the implementation of the best possible adaptive strategies in the region. Built upon an extended network of collaborations, including the two previous research centres (CEES and SAHFOS) this project aims to strengthen intra-European scientific cooperation, in particular through this triple scheme: Spain (IEO), Norway (CEES), and UK (SAHFOS).
