Research Visibility 2010 - Macedonia

Objetivo

Researchers’ Night as event in 2010 is organised in the Republic of Macedonia for third time. The main objective of this year’s project consists of enhancing researchers' public recognition through increased visibility. Therefore, a varied programme of activities will take place in not less than 10 Macedonian cities, i.e. Skopje, Bitola, Tetovo, Stip, Ohrid, Kicevo, Gostivar, Veles, Prilep, and Strumica, and will provide unique opportunities to the Macedonian public to interact and have fun with researchers.

The concept of the event is considered to attract all age groups and provides mix of activities and possibilities for edutainment. The REVIS 2010 concept commences with a customised promotional campaign ‘Open for Science’ designed to provide increased public awareness on national level. During the night of 24 September 2010 there will be several open venues in each participating city, amusement programs, and science fair, bespoke projections, exhibitions, and demonstrations, European corners, street labs and cabinets of curiosity.

Researchers’ Night is a manifestation that provides opportunity for reaching better visibility and public awareness for the European Research Area. It contributes to presentation of the possibilities by involvement of Macedonian Scientific Society in European Research Area, and in particular in the FP7 Programme. Hence the European Research possibilities are a cross-cutting issue of REVIS 2010 project.

Taking into account the objectives of the Researchers’ Night initiative under the Framework programme of the European Commission, and the previous experience of the consortium, the project REVIS 2010 sets as its main goal to enhance public recognition of researchers and their role in society and to encourage young people in Macedonia to embark on scientific career.
