Objective
Capital Science will attract a large and diverse audience to a unique event celebrating research and researchers in the heart of the capital city of Switzerland. With a rich and vibrant programme the first researcher’s night in Bern will provide many different opportunities for the audience to personally meet researchers from all disciplines. The event will help overcome public stereotypes of researchers and inspire the young to consider research as an option for their own career. Capital Science will build on the success of two large festivals that were celebrated in 2009 on the occasion of the 175th anniversary of the University of Bern. These two previous events assembled each 200 researchers and 10’000-15’000 visitors and generated more than 20 contributions in the national media, thereby vividly demonstrating the creative, organisational and logistic capacities of the organisers and the keen interest of the public at large as well as the local and national media.
