Research programme (Euratom, EEC) to be implemented by the Joint Research Centre - Safety of nuclear materials - , 1980-1983

Joint Research Centre activity in this field has been mainly directed at the development of risk analysis models and tests on specific geological disposal sites. Laboratory experiments have been conducted to provide data on the stability of conditioned waste and the migration of radionuclides in geological formations.
To improve the long-term safety of waste management in various aspects, ranging from long-term assessment of geological disposal to accurate measurements of actinides in waste (actinide monitoring) to minimisation of alpha-waste arising (actinide separation).
Four projects:
