For this purpose data real deployment scenarios will be considered. Smart wireless/optical testbed demonstrations via on line and workshop demonstrations We are building on two already existing very valuable assets – the testbeds at the University of Thessaly (NITOS) and at University of Bristol (TSON). The wireless testbed in Thessaly is a result of the EU-initiative OneLab and the optical testbed in Bristol is a result of the EU Projects CONTENT and OFELIA. In the course of 5G-XHaul, both testbeds will be extended and finally integrated into one testbed exploiting the city of Bristol (UK) experimentation infrastructure. System Architecture definition This deliverable will report a list of specifications and a high level description of the 5G-XHaul architecture. Analysis of state of the art on scalable control plane design and techniques for user mobility awareness. Definition of 5G-XHaul control plane requirements. This deliverable will provide a thorough analysis of the state of the art available on scalable control plane design, and will identify the basic control plane technologies that will be used in 5G-XHaul. The deliverable will also contain an analysis of existent techniques that can be used to track user mobility patterns with different levels of RAN integration. Finally, the deliverable will identify measurable requirements to be fulfilled by the 5G-XHaul control plane, by identifying the functions to be run in the SDN controller, and their associated delay and bandwidth requirements. Design and evaluation of scalable control plane, and of mobility aware capabilities and spatio-temporal demand prediction models This deliverable will provide an architectural design of the 5G-XHaul control plane, including the MT-MAC, the SDN agent, the southbound interface, the 5G-XHaul controller, and the user mobility tracking mechanisms. In addition, this deliverable will contain an evaluation of the designed architecture, and an initial evaluation of the defined demand prediction models. Synchronization and localization for cooperative communications This deliverable will provide the means of an accurate frequency, phase and timing synchronization, for all the wireless schemes that play a role in the project. Evaluation of SDN functionalities over heterogeneous RAN technologies at UTH testbed This deliverable is a report of the SDN functionalities tested at UTH’s testbed. It involves information of the setup used to test spatial SDN, MT-MAC and other dynamic control functions. It also analyses the results obtained and evaluates them against any relevant KPIs. Advanced antenna systems for radio access This deliverable will report the development of an advanced antenna prototype with at least 100 active elements and a CPRI fronthaul interface. Architecture of optical/wireless backhaul and fronthaul and evaluation This deliverable will report the optical/wireless backhaul and fronthaul 5G-XHaul architecture together with a detailed evaluation of its performance through modelling and simulations. Evaluation of wireless-optical converged functionalities at UNIVBRIS testbed This deliverable reports on the deployment and tests of RAN services over the integrated optical-wireless backhaul/fronthaul solution and the BBU pools. Report detailed performance conclusions and system design recommendations This deliverable will use as input the outcome of D4.5 and will draw conclusions on performance achievable and produce report detailing results and recommendations for system design and standardization. 5G-XHaul Technoeconomic Study A techno-economic study of the 5G-XHaul converged optical and wireless network solution will be carried out. The study will raise the development of a fully parameterized tool for the cost estimation of the adoption of the 5G-XHaul solution in indicative network deployments, and for the comparison with other solutions.
