Objetivo The aim of this project is to transfer the production of these steels, which are usually continuously cast in 240 mm square blooms and then reduced into 150 mm square billets before entering the rolling mill, to a continuous-casting line producing 150 mm square billets. This transposition calls for modifications to the deoxidation of the steel and the addition of Te, B or Bi in order to compensate for the resulting deterioration in machinability.
