Objetivo The aim of this research project is to promote the use of mixed constructions of both steel and reinforced concrete and steel and masonry. Particular attention will be paid to the design of the connection systems between reinforced concrete columns and steel beams, including load transmission and earthquake resistance aspects, and full size prototypes will be constructed and cyclically tested. Research will examine existing and potential solutions and will carry out laboratory testing in order to produce a directory of design and guide-lines for connection data for use by architects, design engineers and contractors.
