The Oblow project by Oblow Global S.L. was approved within the call for SME Instrument H2020, Topic SMEInst-01-2016-2017: Open Disruptive Innovation Scheme, Call 2016-11-09.
European Working Conditions Survey highlighted that 22% of European workers reported suffering from stress, lower back pain, muscular pain and fatigue. About a quarter of those employed in Europe are exposed to job strain. In fact, the annual economic cost of work-related stress in the European Union was estimated at around €20 billion.
Breathing techniques are the easiest and most affordable way of relaxing when we are nervous, when we feel anxious or cannot sleep. We have developed a complete and low-cost solution called Oblow to prevent and reduce stress. With Oblow, stress is not only combated, but relaxation and concentration is also developed through breathing, which results in improvements to well-being and mental and physical performance. Over the last three years, the Oblow solution has been developed by a team made up of psychologist, engineers, programmers, industrial designers and customer experience consultants.
Oblow encourages relaxing experiences and positive feelings through the use of a device that uses concentration and breathing exercises, and an application that motivates users and monitors their training. We have developed Oblow from a deep benchmarking of other solutions to reduce stress and Oblow is the only device that accurately measures whether or not the user is breathing correctly to achieve relaxation. Our Unique selling proposition (USP) is: Oblow provides users with a sense of relaxation and focus by guiding their breathing techniques.
The overall objective of the Project was to confirm the business strategy, business model, intellectual property and marketing strategies of the company Oblow Global SL to enter into the wearable sector, through the Oblow project.
The Project has been developed as planned, in terms of deadlines, budgets, actions, and results obtained.

Activity No. 1 of the project has enabled us to obtain scientific validation of the device. We can now confirm that Oblow is able to reduce stress because an expert in this field, after leading a study of the device, supports this claim. In Activity No. 2 we have tested the channel of Occupational Health and Safety (OSH) companies and health and safety consultancy firms to sell the Oblow to HR departments. We have established contact with several companies working in Occupational Health. We have also tested the interest of the wellness sector (spas and fitness centres). We also have got market information about the reception of unit price and the customer profile. Activity No. 3 has enabled us to improve our value proposition and adapt it to each specific segment, as well as to design a marketing plan and establish a series of actions to launch the product. Activity 4 has enabled us to establish a long-term strategy for IP protection. And finally, activity No. 5 has included the development of a comprehensive business plan, which includes an economic & financial plan for the next four years. This task has helped us to estimate our needs for financing.
Our goal is to launch a device that is affordable in terms of price, and accessible in regard to ease of use, so that any citizen with stress problems can learn to control their breathing, reduce their levels of stress and ultimately, increase their well-being.
Promoters expect to demonstrate that Oblow Global SL will soon be an internationally recognized company within the field of stress control. We hope that the Oblow device will contribute to improving the psychosocial health of European citizens and employees, contributing to the reduction of work sick leave as a result of stress.
