Flow of complex fluids in porous media

Objetivo

This project will enable the fellows to perform quality research in resolving the problems of fluid placement into heterogeneous rocks. They will benefit from a team environment where scientists of different nationalities and domains work together. They will also be encouraged to interact with experts in sister Schlumberger Research and Development centres in Europe and the U.S.A.

The project will be carried out in an industrial environment characterised by a reputation for scientific excellence; hence the fellows will benefit from exposure to issues involved in the applying fundamental research ideas towards the development of innovative, commercial concepts and products. The centre has close links with both Universities (in particular Cambridge University) and also industrial research labs such as the IFP.

The fellows will also benefit from the technical challenges posed by the flow of complex fluids through porous media, and broaden their scientific expertise in an area that is economically promising. The company will benefit from the research expertise and the input of fresh ideas from the fellow. The understanding generated by this project will be invaluable for the future development of processes that require the placement of complex fluids into heterogeneous reservoir rocks.
