Objective To date 25 research groups from 9 EU Member States, comprising 70 scientists in total, have worked for 582 station days at Hasylab. The first part of the Large Installations Plan coincided with reconstructing DORIS. This provided seven new wiggler and undulator beamlines, two of which, a general purpose goniometer and an ultra-small angle X-ray scattering measuring instrument were constructed with support from the Large Installations Plan. The resulting research covered a variety of topics in the fields of photoelectron spectroscopy, crystallography, small angle X-ray scattering, surface X-ray diffraction under grazing incidence, X-ray topography and X-ray absorption spectroscopy. Some 40 visiting EU research groups plan to use the facility at a later stage.
