Objetivo THE PROJECT CONSISTS OF THE FOLLOWING FIVE INTERRELATED SUB-PROJECTS. A. LOW-RISK SILVICULTURE B. DYNAMIC SIMULATION OF GROWTH AND DEVELOPMENT C. SITE CORRELATION RESEARCH D. GROWTH AND YIELD RESEARCH E. WOOD QUALITY RESEARCH THE PROJECT WILL BE INTEGRATED BY VARYING, AS REQUIRED, THE MODELS USED IN THESE 5 SUB-PROJECTS USING DATA FROM COMPARABLE LOCATIONS OR IDENTICAL PERMANENT FIELD PLOTS. THE MODELS FOR DOUGLAS-FIR WILL BE USEFUL AS TOOLS FOR ESTIMATING AND FORECASTING GROWTH AND YIELD (WITH REGARD TO STEM VOLUME, DIMENSIONS AND QUALITY) UNDER VARIOUS SITE AND MANAGEMENT CONDITIONS. EXISTING SILVICULTURAL SYSTEMS FOR DOUGLAS FIR WILL BE EVALUATED WITH REGARD TO MAJOR OR SILVICULTURAL RISKS AS E.G. WINDTHROW. TO OBTAIN A BETTER UNDERSTANDING OF THE INTERACTION BETWEEN WOOD QUALITY AND SITE CHARACTERISTICS, CORRELATIONS WILL BE SOUGHT.
