ENERGY SAVING IN 10 ROW HOUSES BY PASSIVE AND ACTIVE USE OF SOLAR ENERGY BY "LEGIS" ELEMENTS

Objective

Construction of ten 2-family dwellings (100 m2 each) using passive and active solar energy for heating, climatization and DHW.
The building facades serve as collectors by means of transparent and insulating cladding panels ('legis').
The payback of this current project will be 26 years, however in future this should decrease to 5-7 years once the technology is commercially available.
Expected energy production is 150 MWh/yr.

The main part of a LEGIS-wall is the transparent insulation material with high transmission and low heatflow. In use in front a facade, combined with a roller blind, a wall heating system is created. If a pipe system is added on the facade an active water heating system for low temperature heating devices is formed. The LEGIS-wall with controlled roller blinds is newly developed but not yet proven in larger scale applications.
