Objetivo Construction of three diesel locomotives and proof of its technical reliability and economical superiority as compared with conventional locomotives.Demonstration in a ontime use and proof of their suitability for the connection traffic to the european high speed lines planned for the next decade to disclose the european periphery.Creation of a reference basis for future applications.PHASE 1:Construction of three locomotives- Type DE 1024- Axle sequence Co Co- Power transmission threephase current/threephase current- Diesel engine MaK 12 M 282, UIC-rated power 2650 kW- Electric train power supply max. 700 kVA- Maximum speed V max = 160 km/h- Starting tractive force 360 kNPHASE 2:Initiation and Factory TestInvestigation of one locomotive as to running and braking by the Munich Research and Experimental Institute of the Federal rail, as a prerequisite for the operation on lines of the Federal Rail, measurement of tractive power, cooling power, specific fuel comsumption, sound emission in cab and outside the locomotive, etc..PHASE 3:Test operation of the locomotive in Schleswig-Holstein in the passenger and goods traffic of the Federal Rail. The on time use of the locomotive for one year represents the actual test period as only the practical reality-oriented operation permits to achieve sufficient kilometric performances enabling relaible results about technical reliability, availability and fuel consumption to be provided, apart from statistical comparisons with the curremtly used diesel-hydraulic locomotives (simple or multiple traction).
