FFG supports Research Co-operation with Western Balkan Countries
The enlargement of the European Research Area (ERA) does not stop at the borders of the EU countries. In order to achieve a better integration of Western Balkan countries in EU research and to support co-operation, FFG started the EU-funded initiative “ERA Westbalkan” on 1st of Mai 2004. One of the main achievements of this initiative is an overview of the research landscape of Western Balkan Countries, containing detailed information on some 630 research organisations, both private and state-owned. This online-database is accessible via http://www.westbalkanresearch.net. It contains profiles from Bosnia-Herzegovina, FYR of Macedonia, Montenegro and Serbia. Access to all information is free of charge. The “ERA Westbalkan” initiative is coordinated by the Division for European and International Programmes (EIP) of the Austrian Research Promotion Agency. In the last years EIP was active in a broad range of similar activities and projects with Western Balkan countries.
