PIPER Tool Kit - helping to deliver information on Telematics Applications projects
Project Information Prepared for Exploitation and Reference (PIPER), a support action within the Telematics Applications programme, specializes in the provision of assistance and tools for projects wishing to publish their documents on the Web. This support action was established to help provide greater visibility to the wide range of projects funded by the programme, of varying size and complexity, and addressing many different technical areas. PIPER aims to address issues such as how projects can structure and prepare their results so that they can be processed easily for dissemination on World Wide Web servers, how projects can communicate their results effectively, and how consistent links between results can be established. In order to achieve these aims a new version of the Tool Kit for disseminating Telematics Applications project results on the World Wide Web has recently been developed. The Tool Kit aims to address the problem of ensuring that relevant information is structured in a way that is suitable for re-use, and which is easy to search and access. It has been improved and updated since the previous version, with new features such as an improved user interface, automatic activation of URL links, and a new three frame layout for ease of navigation. The advantages of the Tool Kit include: - The presentation of results to ensure that the audience targeted can quickly recognize whether or not they are of interest to them; - The incorporation of hidden information in the deliverable to ensure appropriate indexing and retrieval by search engines; - Simplification and speeding up the process of preparing the deliverable.
